Make a Pledge for Change 

You have the power to fight climate change and support climate justice for people with and without disabilities in your own life, your community and even the world! You can reduce your impact on the environment and the atmosphere by changing your transportation habits, energy use, what you consume and how you throw things away. You can also increase your own climate resilience by, for example, putting together a disaster readiness plan. And you can impact your community and the world by becoming an activist, whether that’s through calling your legislators or joining a climate justice or disability rights group.

Use the form below to make one or more pledges for how you will change your life and/or the world (the more the better!). We’d also love to share your story to encourage others to join the effort – just let us know if that’s okay by using the checkbox at the bottom of the form!

Change my transit habits

  • Use public transit more frequently instead of using a car

  • Make more trips on foot, bike, e-bike, or using a wheelchair or scooter

  • Take fewer trips, including by running multiple errands in one trip


Reduce my climate and environmental impact

  • Adjust my thermostat to use less energy

  • Turn off electronics or appliances when I’m not using them

  • Invest in my home’s energy efficiency, such as upgrading appliances or using LED light bulbs

  • Purchase fewer things I don’t need, especially things that I only use once or can’t be recycled

  • Recycle and/or compost more of my waste

Prepare for disasters

  • Learn more about natural disasters in my area

  • Create a personal disaster preparedness plan

  • Work with my friends and community to build a disaster support network


Make a difference         

  • Contact my legislators and advocate for climate justice

  • Join a local climate justice group

  • Join a local disability rights group

  • Start or join a group focused on disability justice in climate change
